BRINGING COMMUNITY TOGETHER

The James Family Prescott YMCA is a non-profit charitable organization that was founded locally in 1914. It is an association for persons of all ages who are united in a common effort: to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

A community volunteer Board of Directors sets policy, gives ideas and oversees the financial decisions that govern the YMCA. The YMCA is supported by memberships, program fees and public and private contributions. As a membership organization, the YMCA is open to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. An extensive scholarship program ensures access to kids and families who could not otherwise afford the benefits of the YMCA.

VIRTUAL FITNESS • As part of a collaborative network of YMCAs across the country that are experiencing this crisis, we have partnered with the YMCAs of Houston, Charlotte, Twin Cities and Pierce & Kitsap Counties to provide virtual group fitness content for you to access at home for a limited time. Several classes are available, ranging from eight to 30 minutes. Find videos here: YMCA 360: Your Virtual YMCA

The Y means a lot to me! Thank you for the opportunity for me to express my appreciation! I have a challenge for you... how many businesses or entities can you think of that have run consistently well over the last 20 years? 10 years? Or even 5?

Our local YMCA is one of those entities. I had a life-changing event in 1999; it is hard to believe that is over 20 years ago. I chose to join the Y as an opportunity to re-start my life and to take it in a different direction. It is a decision that I have never had one moment regret in making. I have been a part of the Prescott community for over 27 years and have been privileged to hear many great Y stories.

The instructors and staff have always been encouraging, supportive, motivational, and give of themselves regularly. It is absolutely from the heart as we all know as a non-profit the instructors and staff are not there to make a pile of money. Joining the Y gave me confidence and helped me make some real changes in my life that had been needed for some time. I have continued through the years as a YMCA Member and have benefited from all the options offered. I engaged in dance classes, weight training, aerobics, spin and, as I have grown older, the varied aqua aerobic classes have improved my overall health and well-being. I am completely sold on our YMCA!

I encourage you to make the YMCA a real part of your day-to-day life. Investigate all they have to offer our community. I am confident you will not regret your decision. Christie L.
