The James Family YMCA is a non-profit organization that has faithfully served the needs of our communities for more than 45 years. As a non-profit, the Y depends on donations and membership dues to fund the multitude of programs we offer. However, the current health crisis has placed an additional load on the Y to provide the services that our community desperately relies on them for. Most notably, emergency child care for our first responders and health care workers on the front lines fighting this health crisis, as well as our essential workers, like our grocery store employees who go to work every day to keep stores open and provide us with the ability to purchase food and necessary items. The Y has also expanded its meal programs for children to ensure that they receive as many as three meals per day, reaching youth whose families may be impacted economically by the loss of a job or income at this time. The Y continues to make learning a top priority for our youth, as well, and is working to accommodate the individual online learning needs for each child in their care. And they do it all the while providing financial assistance for families who need it to make these programs accessible to the masses.

We are not only caring for our youth, but our senior population, and members as well. We continue to offer virtual fitness classes online to our members and are re-opening some classes at the Y with distancing guidelines in place. as well – making sure that their senior members at home, some scared and afraid, are not isolated and have a lifeline to someone at the Y to know that they still have support and a community behind them

The ability of the James Family Prescott YMCA to remain a positive resource for our community during this time largely depends on the generous support of individuals like you. With your help, the Y will emerge from this crisis more resilient than ever before – and so will our community. Donate Today.

The Y means a lot to me! Thank you for the opportunity for me to express my appreciation! I have a challenge for you... how many businesses or entities can you think of that have run consistently well over the last 20 years? 10 years? Or even 5?
Our local YMCA is one of those entities. I had a life-changing event in 1999; it is hard to believe that is over 20 years ago. I chose to join the Y as an opportunity to re-start my life and to take it in a different direction. It is a decision that I have never had one moment regret in making. I have been a part of the Prescott community for over 27 years and have been privileged to hear many great Y stories.
The instructors and staff have always been encouraging, supportive, motivational, and give of themselves regularly. It is absolutely from the heart as we all know as a non-profit the instructors and staff are not there to make a pile of money. Joining the Y gave me confidence and helped me make some real changes in my life that had been needed for some time. I have continued through the years as a YMCA Member and have benefited from all the options offered. I engaged in dance classes, weight training, aerobics, spin and, as I have grown older, the varied aqua aerobic classes have improved my overall health and well-being. I am completely sold on our YMCA!
I encourage you to make the YMCA a real part of your day-to-day life. Investigate all they have to offer our community. I am confident you will not regret your decision. Christie L.

I joined the YMCA in 2016 and I do LOVE the Y.  I enjoy the classes, especially Pump Iron and Spin.  The classes are engaging, and the instructors are great.  Of course, my favorite instructor is Janice.  She is knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging.  I have made many friends, both Y Members and Y Staff.  Because of friends and the welcoming environment, I am motivated to go to the Y 5 days a week.  I can sum up my feelings for the Y in 3 words:  FITNESS, FRIENDS, FUN! Debbie P.

I joined the Prescott YMCA in 2008. I love going to classes like Y Fit & Silver Sneakers with Jane, Karen & Janice. They are all excellent instructors and are a real asset to the Y. I have made so many friends at the Y, everyone is so friendly. When I have not seen a regular in a while, I get concerned hoping they are well. Walking in and seeing a smiling face greeting me, like Denise puts a smile on my face. Exercise is very important to me so I am thankful I can be a member of the YMCA. To all the staff “Keep up the good work”. We appreciate you. Jo Ann C.

Why Do I Love the Prescott Y?
I joined the Y when I retired and moved to Prescott in 2001.  I agreed to change my fitness program and join the Y if my husband would agree to come with me.  It is one of the best decisions we have made in the 23 years we have been married!  I enjoyed the Y so much that in 2003 I decided to become a Y group fitness instructor so I could share my love of fitness and hopefully inspire others to become more fit and therefore healthy.
We love the members we have met at the Y.  We have made many friends and have expanded our social group tremendously.  Not only do we all work out together, share dinners, parties, and vacations with our Y friends.
We also love the staff at the Y.  The people at the front desk are always extremely friendly and welcoming.  The trainers are all very skilled with their one-on-one training and helpful with members learning to use the equipment and develop their specific fitness programs.  The group fitness instructors are some of the best I have ever met at any workout facility.  They are not only very well prepared, friendly and helpful both during and outside the classes (and the class participants make us feel so appreciated).  The facilities staff do a great job keeping the Y clean and the equipment in good working condition. They also respond very quickly when any type of help is needed in or around the facility.  Then there are all the "behind the scenes" Directors who keep our Y functioning, not only day-to-day, but year-to-year so we can enjoy all the many programs the Y has to offer.
We love all the different things we can do at the Y, including fitness classes, the swimming pool, the workout areas and equipment, and special programs/speakers/challenges that are offered.  There are so many things to do, we come to the Y 5 or 6 days a week!
Bottom line, it is the people that make the Prescott Y so special and keep us coming back.  Thanks to all of you! Jane C.

I started teaching fitness classes in 1979 at a Y in York, Pennsylvania.  The Y was a place where I found a stable fitness facility, made many friends, and encouragement to further my training as a fitness professional. When I moved to Prescott in 2005, I was glad to discover a great Y in the area.  Once again, I found a stable fitness facility, many members who welcomed me to the area and soon became good friends, and the opportunity to continue as a fitness instructor.
Because of this very unusual and difficult year, I realize that many fitness facilities have not been able to survive.  The Prescott YMCA has been fighting hard to remain a stable entity in all the many services that they provide.  I have great faith that as things get back to normal the Y will remain a stable facility offering a great variety of services to the community and a great place to form lasting friendships with people of all ages.

I love the Y for the variety of exercise programs available and great family atmosphere. My thanks to everyone at the Y who always find new and innovative ways to keep us fit during Covid restrictions. You guys are truly awesome!! Gabrielle P.

I love the Y because of the wonderful positive employees that work there. It makes exercising fun! Darcy B.

A community volunteer Board of Directors sets policy, gives ideas and oversees the financial decisions that govern the YMCA. The YMCA is supported by memberships, program fees and public and private contributions. As a membership organization, the YMCA is open to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. An extensive scholarship program ensures access to kids and families who could not otherwise afford the benefits of the YMCA.
