:: REVIEW THE RACE

This is one of the toughest Marathons in the United States. The terrain is rugged, the altitude exceeds a mile above sea level and the weather can be severe. The 2011 event marks the 33rd anniversary of the Whiskey Row Marathon.  Come join runners from all over the county in this prestigious event.  In addition to the Marathon there is also a 1/2 marathon, 10K, and 2 mile fun run.

On behalf of North Central University, Prescott YMCA and event sponsors, we welcome you to Arizona's oldest and most scenic Marathon and associated events. We hope you enjoy this historic event.

The 10K race is a loop course.

RACE COMMENTS

Just a quick thanks for hosting a beautiful and challenging run. We couldn't have asked for more perfect conditions!!! I really had a super time and saw many old friends. ~Susie M.

Thanks for an experience for life! What a race. I had a good run. Unfortunately I was not used to the altitude and the never ending up-hill, so I did drop a bit behind on the last half. I was 6th after the first half but ended at 16th. I am very satisfied, since I have never been doing any running above 2000 ft. The highest point in Denmark is app. 500 ft above mean sea level . Anyhow, thanks a lot for a very well organized marathon. Also a very well done to all the helpers; outstanding support!!! Thanks again.
~John K. Royal Danish Air Force, Denmark

I just wanted to thank you and all your volunteers for putting on a great race! I've been there 5 out of the last 6 years, but this is the first time that I've run the full marathon course. It gets really pretty after the half-marathon turn-around. Now I think I'm hooked on the full. ~David C.

I ran the half marathon last week and wanted to let you know, you guys did a great job on it. It was so much nicer then the PF Chang I ran earlier this year. Thanks again for a great run and we will see you next year. ~Ken Q.

Thanks for a great marathon the medals are beautiful and having numerous age groups and medals for them make it really special –It always makes it special for me and my friends to come home with a couple medals—we will be back next year. I don’t know if I will get a couple next year but it makes it a real challenge for me to try hard—either way I will be more than pleased with the experience. ~Dan B.

A very well organized run I have to say. This was my first time running this half marathon and I certainly would do it again even though I am from out of the area. ~Kim W.

I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with your organization for today's event. I can't believe how smoothly everything went. ~Liz Z.

Thanks so much for a great event (again).  The volunteers this year were amazing.  They were funny, polite and kind.  The water stops with the fruit made for even a better experience then in years past.  Also,  the porta-potties, they were very appreciated.   I have done this race many times but by far this has been one of the best.  The weather was perfect.  We do need to get more people involved the running/walking.  People need to understand that this is a great community event.  We will be back. There are 6 or 7 of us who participate very year.  Some do the 1/2, some the 10K. We always have a great time.
Please make sure that all of your volunteers get the kudos they deserve, they were awesome.   Thanks for a fun Saturday
~Stephanie

Thank you for a great marathon.  One of my favorite runs.  I think this was my 7th time returning to such a wonderful event.   This was my first marathon in 1996, keep coming back for several reasons.  The volunteers are the best, great water stations.
 ~Darla
We had a wonderful time running our hometown Whiskey Row again this year.  The course was well marked, the volunteers helpful and there was plenty of good food afterward.
~Cindy
Thank you for another great race that once again, kicked my butt!
I want to thank you and the volunteers for being so kind to John (my golden) before, during and after the race. My time was poor but I let John set the pace..he had run at least 25 half's but this is his first full..I think he may be the first dog to ever participate in a full marathon ...not walking.  It was nice to see the smiles he put on runners faces as they were climbing one of those many hills :)
You did an A-1 job with those medals..absolutely awesome and I LOVE the the slogan "I'm Tough Enough". Also, I have run 30+ marathons and have never seen aide stations that offer you food at every one..that is amazing. People often complain about the type of drink offered or gels whatever..I am truly grateful for WHATEVER you give me. Thank you
~Claudia
