Teen Fit Challenge
-
For kids in middle and high school
-
Program length: 8 weeks of at least 3 workouts per week
-
This program is free to the public and is open to members and non-members.
-
This is an ongoing program and kids can join in at any time.
The teens who
participate in this program are encouraged to engage in at least 3 types of
physical activity each week. Activities can be done outside of the
YMCA - running, walking, playing basketball, baseball, dancing, riding a
bike, DDR play, hiking, etc are all examples of the types of activities that
can be logged on the activity sheets.
A log book is
kept of each participant's activity. Some schools are participating and keep
the log book on campus. Check with the Teen Fit Challenge staff to find out
if your school is participating. If your school is not participating
yet, have your phys-ed teacher or other interested staff member contact us
to learn more about the program.
The Y will
provide one structured activity a week on Wednesday's starting at 2:00PM and
going for approximately an hour.
Some choices of exercise include spinning classes, weight lifting, and
fitness fusion aerobics. These workout sessions are open to both members and
non-members who are signed up for the Teen Fit Challenge.
Watch for our
current program participants in the Whiskey Row Marathon events!
