Charlie Brown - Floor Trainer

Charlie’s passion for the fitness lifestyle has followed him through life. He has participated in various sports including cycling, swimming, running and triathlons. From general fitness to specific sport training, Charlie will guide you to your goals and successes. He is a certified AFAA personal trainer and US Cycling coach.

 

Chris Cottam - Trainer / First Step Coordinator

Chris has been an athlete all his life. Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Chris earned a football scholarship at the University of Mississippi where he earned honorable mention All American honors as an offensive lineman. In addition to several marathons, he participated in the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon Championship. In Prescott, Chris hikes, cycles, swims and loves to run with his dog, Juno. He plans to compete in triathlons and sporting events in the upcoming year. Chris holds two personal training certifications and is qualified to handle most of your fitness questions and needs. He serves as the Director of the YMCA’s First Step program.
 

Candi Daily, Personal Trainer

Candi is a certified personal trainer through ISSA. She is am avid fitness and nutrition enthusiast. For many years she has competed in sports such as basketball, softball, volleyball, and BMX racing.  Candi feels that a balance between nutrition and exercise are the best approach to a healthy lifestyle. Currently, she enjoys riding motocross, hiking, riding bicycles and taking walks with her family and two dogs. Candi is enthusiastic about working with anyone who is trying to achieve better health amidst an active lifestyle.

 
Gustavo Duran - Floor Trainer

Gustavo has been physically active for a majority of his life and loves to pass his knowledge onto others. He is currently studying to become a personal trainer and has worked at the Yavapai College weight room to further his knowledge.

In his spare time Gustavo enjoys drawing photo realistic art. He stays active through working out, as well as training in the martial arts.
 

Nino Filippinetti - Personal Trainer / Pilates Instructor

From Switzerland, Nino is an avid hiker and snow skier. Before becoming a certified personal trainer and Pilates instructor, Nino was diagnosed with arthritis of the spine and discovered that exercise and fitness could relieve the pain. It is no wonder that his special expertise is core exercise. Nino enjoys working with people to help them achieve their unique goals.
 
Silvano Flores - Floor Trainer

Silvano is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He has been active in fitness and weightlifting for over 10 years. Through is experience in leading PT in the army he discovered a passion in training others. Silvano is currently attending Yavapai College and is pursuing his personal training certification through ISSA.   Silvano hopes to one day own his own gym. Also he is known for grunting to get the last rep up.

 
Lynn McLaughlin - Personal Trainer

With nearly 10 years of experience as a personal trainer, Lynn has refined her approach to fitness by emphasizing
FUNCTIONAL TRAINING. This involves training the entire body through movement with a focus on the body’s core. (If you just want bigger biceps, she can do that too!) Lynn can also incorporate flexibility and balance work into any program. Together, you can design a weight loss program through cardiovascular exercise and your specific caloric needs. Whether you are just starting this journey or a fitness regular needing a tune-up, give her the opportunity to be of help.

Jan Olson - Floor Trainer

A three-sport college athlete, Jan turned to competitive running and physical fitness competitions during a 25 year United States Marine Corps career. To further enhance his philosophy of a healthy body/healthy mind, he became a mental health therapist working with males and females of all ages. Life is too short to go at it half –speed and Jan is excited to share his many years of experience to make your Y experience more meaningful.
 

Mary Paper - Personal Trainer / Assistant First Step Co-ordinator

Mary received her fitness instructor certification through the IFPA. Fitness has always played a major role in her lifestyle through running and other sports.  She has completed many 1/2 Marathons, running is her passion.  She has trained many members in the First Step program and says” The most rewarding part is watching a person’s intimidation disappear and their self-confidence bloom. She is also the trainer for the YMCA’s Get Real Weight Management Program.
 

Janine Pereira - Personal Trainer

Janine was born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada, She graduated from Minot State University with a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Fitness with a concentration in health and wellness. She enjoys working with clients of all ages and abilities. She also enjoys working with teens in sports conditioning and weight-loss programs. She teaches step, Bosu, and bootcamp style classes for the Prescott YMCA as well.

 
Frank Richey - Floor Trainer

Frank is a retired elementary school principal. He has been competing in powerlifting for many years and looks forward to the nationals this year. He has held world records in power squats, deadlifts and bench press.
 
Chris Rivera - Fitness Coordinator - Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor

Chris has been a fitness instructor for 6+ years and a personal trainer for 2 years. She enjoys teaching aerobics, weight training, stretch, aqua aerobics, interval training and kickboxing. Chris is certified in personal training through ACE and the YMCA of the USA.  She is certified in Group Fitness through AFAA, is a certified lifeguard and a mother of two. 
 

Fran Romero - Fitness Director

Fran has been with the Prescott YMCA since 1988. She received her degree from California State University, Chico in Recreation Administration with a minor in Physical Education. Her first job with the YMCA was in Tucson where she taught Fitness Fantasia. Working up the ranks, she has taught almost every class here and began many programs before becoming the Health and Fitness Director. Some of the programs she started are; the arthritis warm water program, First Step, Step classes, Spinning, Kickboxing, Beginner Strength Training, Pumping Iron, Y-Fit, Stretch and Flex, the Moms in Motion program and her favorite class to date ZUMBA.

Sabin Snow - Personal Trainer/ Floor Trainer

Sabin has extensive experience with special populations. He is a retired clinical psychologist. He has been active in his new fitness career for four years and worked at the Scottsdale YMCA before moving to Prescott. He is an ACE certified personal trainer and a YMCA certified swimming instructor. Sabin is a former ultra marathoner, having run many marathons and ultra runs.
 

Denise Waskow - Personal Trainer / Group Fitness Instructor

Denise is certified as a personal fitness trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She has been involved in fitness for many years and maintained her certifications since 1994. She helps her clients reach their personal best, be it in health, fitness and appearance. With a background in bodybuilding and a thorough enjoyment of several physical activities, she understands the commitments and rewards when fitness is a part of life. She successfully works with her clients to design personalized programs that will work for them and keep them committed to their purpose.
 
Robert Zampol - Floor Trainer / Dance Instructor

Bob is a knowledgeable weight trainer who loves passing on this enthusiasm to others. He takes a diverse approach to fitness, balancing cardio, weight training and stretching as part of his daily workout program. Bob believes functional fitness is the physical base for all of life’s activities. Bob is also a dance instructor, and enjoys golf and tennis. From southern California, Bob is a retired engineer.
