Lifestyle Coach - YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program (YMCA's DPP)

Join the YMCA on a part-time basis and motivate YMCA's DPP participants to make lifestyle changes to help them become healthier. The Lifestyle Coach will follow a standardized curriculum designed for the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program to provide support and guidance to participants during the 16 week course. Lifestyle coaches must have strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships with individuals as well as build community within a group, and have empathy for health seekers. Coaches must be flexible to work with a wide variety of people in addition to being detail oriented and computer savvy. Understanding of behavior change and knowledge of basic health, nutrition and fitness is desireable. Familiarity and proficienty with Listen First or motivational interviewing is essential (training will be provided within the first several months of employment). As the Coach, you will be tasked with creating and maintaining a motivational class environment that is friendly and non-competitive. On average a coach works between 2 and 3 hours per week and must be available for the full course which consists of 16 weekly sessions, three bi-monthly sessions and 6 monthly sessions over the course of a year. Classes will be held in Prescott, and the Lifestyle Coach will report (premarily via phone and email) to the Director of YMCA's DPP in Tucson. In order to become a Y Lifestyle Coach you must be available to take 3 online courses and attend a 1 1/2 day training in Tucson during August or September of 2016. Lifeguard

Seeking qualified After school group leader to work part time at the Prescott YMCA. All applicants must be 18 and are required to have or be able to obtain a Level 1 finger print clearance card, CPR and First Aid, plus a negative TB test prior to starting and you MUST have at least 6 months of experience working with children in a licensed facility. Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Hours are M-F 2:30-6:00 except Wed 1:30-6.00. Available during no school camp days 6:30 am-6:00 pm. Please read job description and you can apply via email.

The Prescott YMCA Child Watch offers drop-in child care for parents while they work out or take a class at our facility. We are in need of additional help in this growing and important area of our Y.
